Day 1 - 21st June: Venezia - Canale Casson lock

conditions - sunny, overcast later, wind NE changing to SE, force4 decreasing to 2-3 during the day.
late start (1 pm) - paddle through Venice along the Grand Canal, out past Arsenale, along the north side of S. Erasmo, into canal through Treporte, back into the lagoon, along Canale Casson until we hit the lock.

attempt to portage but then found 2 chefs on the bridge who tempted us into Locanda Alle Porte where we stopped for the night..

fishing nets and reeds, egrets and boy racers in speedboats, following lines of wooden posts marking navigation channels and watching where other boats turn ahead to find the way through the marshes.
